The LACMA ensures local physicians have a voice in shaping healthcare policy
Healthcare in California is highly regulated and legislated. As government and the insurance industry continue their quest to control health care, your clinical autonomy is in great jeopardy. Now more than ever, you need to fight to keep medical decisions in your well-trained hands. Fortunately, you do not have to wage the fight alone.
LACPAC plays a powerful role in shaping state healthcare policy since about one-third of the California Legislature resides in Los Angeles County. Many of these legislators hold key leadership positions, including 5 past speakers of the State Assembly. Active participation in every election cycle ensures the election of candidates who share our philosophy about the future of medicine.
Successful legislative advocacy depends upon an integrated approach, consisting of lobbying, continuing grassroots activity and political action through the Los Angeles County Political Action Committee (LACPAC). LACPAC is operated by physicians for physicians. By focusing physician resources, LACPAC supports hundreds of candidates for local, state, and federal office who share our philosophy and vision of the future of health care and medical practice.
