Monday Rx: LACMA Updates on Physician Funding and Resources During COVID-19 Crisis

Specify Alternate Text

This week LACMA continues to find ways to support physicians on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis, those caring for patients, those with practices that have closed or laid off staff.  We are unveiling a new web site this week with free and discounted products and services for physicians.  The site will also feature colleagues thanking colleagues, so I encourage physicians to visit the site and post a message or video.  You will receive more news via our successful Physician Playbook digital newsletter later this week with additional details.

190+ Solo and Small Practices Funded

As of today, we have helped more than 190 solo and small practices through funding, advice, resources and answers to questions relative to SBA loans, PPP, HHS direct deposit and telehealth funding news.  Later next week we will also have our first PPE distribution event. Those of you who registered for help and let us know the best way to provide you masks and shields will be receiving your supply kits via courier service!  Additionally, we will have a curbside pick up at a location to be disclosed later this week.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act

Many of you have shared that you need help with telehealth.  The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently released information about a new $200 million program, borne out of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act that was signed into law in March and aims to give providers the resources for improving connected health programs to patients in their homes and other remote locations. The funds will be used for telemedicine equipment, broadband connectivity and other resources. Learn more.

LACMA Partners With PatientPop for Telehealth and Offers New 'Telesubsidy' for Members

We kicked off our telesubsidy program today!  If you are a current LACMA member and PatientPop client, you essentially get 4 months free telehealth and quit anytime.   If you are not a PatientPop client, you still get 4 months free with an annual contract.  As some physicians struggle with elderly patients and a telehealth solution, PatientPop has an intake process that coordinates with a caregiver/loved one as well which is a nice feature.

149th Annual Elections and Annual Spring General Meeting

The Los Angeles County Medical Association is holding its 149th Annual Election this coming June. Active members of LACMA and CMA have the privilege of nominating and voting for their preferred candidates for any vacant position.

This is an exciting time of year as members who are interested in holding a leadership position or who would like to become more involved in shaping healthcare policy at the local and state level should review current vacancies and submit nominations for themselves or other members to Lisa Le at lisa@lacmanet.org

Members are also invited to participate in the Annual Spring General Meeting held on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 6:30pm-7:00pm. This meeting is the last chance for members to make nominations for the 2020 Election. Can’t participate? Members may be nominated for any elective office by a petition signed by at least five (5) members eligible to vote and sent to the LACMA offices prior to the start of the General Meeting. For more information on this year’s election, please click here. To RSVP, please email Lisa Le at lisa@lacmanet.org.

At the end of May, members can expect to receive a voting ballot via email. Please be sure to keep an eye out for your ballot and submit your vote!
